Zuccardi Argentinean Feast
With Sebastian Zuccardi
Tasting from 6.30pm-7.30pm
Dinner from 7.30pm-10.30pm
This is a biggie. Very excited to announce a wine dinner celebrating the creations of Zuccardi, one of the most highly regarded wineries on the planet, receiving more than 60,000 visitors a year! No need to go all that way though- the head honcho, or perhaps I should say gaucho, Sebastian, is coming to Sandiway to share his extraordinary wares. I was one of those 60,000 visitors about 10 years ago during a memorable trip to South America, and the time spent with Sebastian stands out more than any other. I remember being led by him into a 2 metre-deep trench, with one final peek at the backdrop of the majestic Andes, expecting a gun, at the end of his armies, held to my head. It turned out he’d dug it not as my final resting place, but so he could understand the different soil strata in the vineyard! A force of nature, with a questing intelligence and energy to make the most of the considerable gifts handed down by his equally pioneering father and grandfather.
To make the most of this rare opportunity, we’ll kick off with a tasting of 20 of Sebastian’s wines, in all shades, shapes and sizes, before we sit down for an asado-inspired meat-feast. Nearly every winery I’ve visited in South America has greeted me warmly with their own secret recipe empanada. Ever since, I’ve done the same when we have visitors- here, have a Cornish pastie! You’ll get your empanada during the initial tasting, before we sit down, banquet style, for the following feast:
